The Halfmen of O

Adapted for the stage by Jenny Wake

11-year-old Susan has long sensed that the strange symbol on her wrist, there since the day of her birth, marks her for some special purpose. When her cousin Nick comes to stay for the holidays, he brings a message that draws her into a parallel world.

There, Susan learns she is the only one who can save the beautiful Land of O from the creeping darkness spread by cruel Otis Claw and the Halfies, who have lost every trace of human kindness. With Claw’s Deathguards and their terrifying Bloodcat on her trail, Susan is helped in her quest by friendly Woodlanders, the extraordinary Birdfolk, her cousin Nick and some mysterious Stonefolk who inhabit the Throat of the Underworld.

This is a story of what it means to be human, as Susan struggles to find the strength of character she will need to restore the balance of Good and Evil in the Land of O.
